welcome, this is 'collecting myself'
Me, writing, age 4.

It's taken me 15 years since my first ever published piece of writing (it was a review of the Christian music festival 'Parachute' for the New Zealand Herald, if you were wondering) to finally create a space for myself to write. I tried to write a beauty blog once (short-lived) and posted scraps of writing to Tumblr for many years, but never anything so official as this.

I say official but this is really just a place that I can share my writing when I feel like it, for catharsis or for special interest info-dumping or for memes, but mostly when I think it probably won't get published anywhere else. If you're reading this you're probably a friend or whānau member - welcome and thank you for reading. If you're reading this and you don't know me, hi! What are you doing here? You're unexpected but very welcome too.

There are no parameters or timeframes to this, so if you want to make sure you don't miss anything, you can subscribe at the bottom of the page and you'll get an email whenever I write something on here.

I'll finish this with one of my favourite quotes about writing, by Franz Kafka: "A book must be the axe for the frozen sea inside us." I hope this space will give me the opportunity to sharpen my axe, and maybe to pick away at my own frozen sea too.

P.S. The name is a pun. Because I'm collecting myself emotionally through the catharsis of writing, and also collecting myself/my writing into one collection here. Get it? I know you would have got it, but I can't resist an overexplanation.
